Born in 1971 at Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Mr. Suhaimi bin Abd Ghafer began his career as a Clerk at a Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. Here, Mr. Suhaimi was very active in promoting and sponsoring social as well as community services and other activities of the bank where he picked up the important skills of managing events. It was at this point he quietly learns to form his own travel company.
With the extensive experience at the bank, he acted on his ambition in the travel industry by changing his career. He was involved in the “multi-level” marketing, the hotel as well as travel industry where he gained further exposure and skills in dealing with customers, marketing as well as accounting of successful organizations
In April, 2003, together with another partner, a travel company by the name on IntraTama Travel Consultant and Tours (M) Sdn Bhd was formed focusing on event management. His passion, honesty and hard-work was handsomely rewarded with huge contracts for international as well as local events. Some on these international events were the Le Hunt de Langkawi (2005), the Malaysia International Media Hunt (2006). On the local side, Petronas Chemical Group, Telekom Malaysia, Alstom Asia Pacific, Maybank, Proton Edar, Industrial Concrete Products were some of the “big boys” who became Mr. Suhaimi’s repeat customers
His achievement excels further when in August 2014 the first ever Islamic Cruising or popularly known as Pelayaran Islamik (a Halal Cruise) concept on board the Star Cruise Libra was launched from 24 to 27 August 2014. The ship was subjected to a thorough “samak” cleansing process. The food was prepared and served by Muslim F&B staff. The cruise ship locked its direction towards “qiblah” during “subuh” prayers. 792 participants, including VIP guests, crews, and 27 crews from the regional media organizations on board that cruise ship created a history of unimaginable success.
In January 2015 the participation of 1,098 people from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Subsequent 4 more similar trips were just as successful. In September, 2015, Pelayaran Islamik was introduced to Vietnam’s famous Halong Bay. This particular package has become very popular with Malaysians. Every year there would be 4 to 6 trips to the Halong Bay cruise event. There were also regular Pelayaran Islamik trips scheduled from Singapore – Phuket – Langkawi/Penang – Singapore and Port Klang – Penang, Phuket – Langkawi – Penang- Port Klang in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
In November, 2017, Pelayaran Islamik organized by En Suhaimi charted yet another extraordinary achievement. The Costa Victoria, was fully chartered by Pelayaran Islamik, made its maiden journey to Pulau Sabang of Banda Acheh with a total of 1,011 happy and satisfied passengers. The program that included visit to the Banda Acheh attracted participation from citizens of 15 countries all over the World.
